About LIGHT

Who are we and what are we about?

LIGHT is a homeschool support group in Central Kentucky, that encompasses Anderson, Mercer, Washington, Boyle, Garrard, and Lincoln counties. LIGHT stands for:

Learning and
Instilling
God in
Home 
Teaching

Our Purpose:

  1. To represent the homeschool community in a manner that honors Christ.
  2. To keep the group informed of homeschool events (i.e. seminars, conferences and legal issues).
  3. To provide an atmosphere for exchange of teaching techniques and curriculum information.
  4. To provide family socials, educational field trips, and group activities for our students.
  5. To promote public awareness of Christian home education.

LIGHT Opportunities and Activities

LIGHT offers various activities based on the need and volunteering of families, including:

  • Field Trips

  • Prom
  • Standardized Testing
  • Sports for both Boys and Girls
  • Graduation
  • Kindergarten Graduation
  • Parent Trip to Curriculum Fair
  • Curriculum / Book Sale
  • Senior Class Meetings

Homeschooling Support

  • Mentors for New Families
  • Homeschooling your High Schooler (Bi-Annually; next one in 2026/2027)

Membership in LIGHT entitles you to the following:

  • Member resource with legal information, curriculum resources, home school helps, etc.
  • Opportunities to meet & build friendships with like-minded Christian home educators
  • A monthly newsletter via email filled with LIGHT upcoming events and various homeschooling information
  • Access to join the LIGHT private Facebook group with other homeschool families
  • Member resource with legal information, curriculum resources, home school helps, etc.
  • A member’s directory of phone, email and other helpful information
  • Eligibility for activities sponsored by LIGHT
  • A Group Code Number giving a discount to join/renew with The Home School Legal Defense (HSLDA)
  • Please note: Membership is $20/year/family; year ends July 31st
